Here’s What The Blood of Jesus Can Do For You

We need to understand the power of the blood so we can fully benefit from the blessings it offers. Here’s the spiritual reality: the life is in the blood. God established this truth with Noah, and told Moses how to use it in order to resolve the sin issue between people and God.

To Noah, he said: “You shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. Surely I will require your lifeblood … Whoever sheds man’s blood, by man his blood shall be shed” (Gen 9:4-6).

God explained to Moses: “The life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement. … Its blood is identified with its life (Lev 17:11, 14).

Life is in His blood

Thousands of years later, Jesus affirms the truth that life is in his blood:

Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves (John 6:53).

The blood of Jesus carries the very life God! This why it is so powerful. Here are seven things it can do for us:

1. Release (redeem, cleanse) us from our sins

To Him who … released us from our sins by His blood (Rev 1:5).

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses (Eph 1:7).

2. Cleanse our conscience

How much more will the blood of Christ … cleanse our conscience from dead works (Heb 9:14).

3. Justify us

Having now been justified by His blood (Rom 5:9).

4. Free us from futility

You were not redeemed with perishable things like silver and gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers but with precious blood, … the blood of Christ (I Pet 1:18-19).

5. Overcome our accuser

They overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb (Rev 12:11).

6. Give us peace

Through Him, to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross (Col 1:20).

7. Access the presence of God

We have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus (Heb 10:19).

We can partake of His blood

Jesus gave us His blood and told us to partake of it: “Drink from it, all of you; for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins” (Matt 26:27-28).

St. Paul helps the early believers to understand this when he asked: “Is not the cup of blessing which we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ?” (I Co 10:16). But the blood will not benefit you if you do not apply faith when you partake of the Eucharist or Communion.

Ask God to give you revelation of the power of the blood of Jesus.
