The Kingdom of Power

Hello Friends, This Sunday on Radio Horeb in Europe I am speaking on the theme, “Seek the Kingdom of God.”  Jesus tells us to seek first for the kingdom, but many Christian people have no idea of what the kingdom is or how to seek it. Some think it means heaven, others think it refers to their church, and others to the reign of Christ on earth. But here is one thing I know: the kingdom of God has to do with the power of God, not our church affiliation, doctrine, or theology. The kingdom of God does not consist in word, but in power (1 Corinthians 4:20). Consider the experience of...

What Is The Kingdom of God?

In 1985, when my husband was  in depression again, I found it very painful. One morning I knelt beside our bed and poured out my heart to the Lord. I found myself praying, “Lord, will you send Frans to us?” Who was Frans? An ordinary engineer who lived in Europe, Franz Schadee (Bible Mission International) had been touched by the Lord in a Billy Graham Crusade and sensed God’s direction to take food, warm clothing, and Bibles to people on the other side of the Iron Curtain. A compatriot of the renowned Bible smuggler, Brother Andrew, Frans found ways to penetrate the Iron Curtain and meet...

Childhood Longings

In Muskegon, MI with my sister & her husband who live in the home I grew up in. As I sit in my childhood bedroom, memories come flooding in. Down the road is the home of my Child Evangelism teacher. She’s long gone, but her flannel graph Bible stories seeded my young heart with spiritual hunger. I remember saying, “Some day I want to know a God like the people in her stories did.” Now at 77 yrs., I ask myself: Did the longings of my youth get fulfilled? Have I encountered a living God of power who loves me? Do I know His voice? Does He answer my prayers? Does He know my...

Blood of Jesus Heals Tormenting Pictures

Traumas often leave negative pictures in our minds, often tormenting us for many years. Perhaps the neurons of the brain get stuck at the point of shock, and our brains won’t let us move on. Or perhaps a demonic spirit fastened itself to us in the moment of the trauma. Either way, Jesus Christ offers us His blood as a way to heal these pictures. Chalice of blood frees me Years ago I experienced the power of the blood of Jesus in a dramatic way. After discovering some porn pictures under a bed, I couldn’t erase them from my mind. I went to Jesus and told Him how these pictures were disturbing...

Unforgiveness Hinders God’s Grace

According to Jesus, forgiving others is a necessary condition to receiving answers to our prayers. In his parable about the unforgiving servant, he warns that failure to forgive from the heart carries a high price tag: we’ll be turned over to torturers. We experience great loss when we do not realize how our unforgiveness affects us on every level of our being: physical health, psychological well-being, and spiritual life. 1. Hinders our relationship with God The Scriptures make it clear that when we do not forgive others, it will hinder our ability to love God and know His presence...

Healing Power of Forgiveness

Do you know that research has proven the value of forgiveness in the counseling room? Studies demonstrate that forgiveness can help lead people to emotional and physical healing. People who forgive experience a marked decrease in anxiety, depression, hopelessness, inner emptiness, and an increase in self-esteem. And they feel more satisfied with their lives than the people who do not forgive. Today forgiveness is being used for all manner of problems: anger and depression, catharsis and peace with cancer patients, family-of-origin issues, sexual abuse, and compulsions. Studies provide clear...
