What Does God Promise To Make New?

In Christianity, God promises us that, if we allow it, if we go to Him, He will cause something new to happen inside of us, the old things will pass away and everything will become new.

In the last book of the Bible, it says:

“Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost” — Revelation 21:5-6.

In Isaiah, it says,

Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder things of the past. Behold I will do something new, now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? —Isaiah 43:18-19

In this Bible Study, you will discover the new things that God promises us. Study the Scriptures and ask God to make them real in your life.

1. Make us a new creation, a new creature

The Bible tells us that we become a new creation once we believe in Jesus Christ and receive Him into our heart.

  • If any man is in Christ, he is a new creature (there is a new creation); the old things passed away; behold new things have come (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Another translation says it like this: “If anybody is in union with Christ, he is the work of a new creation; the old condition (old things) has passed away, a new condition (new things) has come.

2. Give us a new spirit

  • I will … put a new spirit within them (Ezekiel 11:19).
  • I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you (Ezekiel 36:26).
  • You are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him (Romans 8:9).

3. Make our life new—newness of life

  • We have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life (Romans 6:4).
  • But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter (Romans 7:6).

4. Discover a new and living way

  • We have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh (Hebrews 10:19-20).

5. Serve a new covenant

  • I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel… I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it …(Jeremiah 31:31-34)
  • He is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises …for if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion sought for a second (Hebrews 8:6-7).
  • You are a letter of Christ, … written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone, but on tablets of human hearts … who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter, but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life (2 Corinthians 3:3, 6).

6. Make our heart new

  • I will take the heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 11:19)
  • I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you (Ezekiel 36:26)

7. Give us a new commandment

  • A new commandment I give you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another (John 13:34).

8.  Give us a new name—a new identity

  • You are no longer a slave, but a son (Galatians 4:7).
  • You will be called by a new name which the mouth of the LORD will designate (Isaiah 62:2)
  • To him who overcomes, … I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it (Revelation 2:17).

9. Give us a new song to sing

  • Sing to the Lord a new song (Isaiah 42:9-10).
  • And they sang as it were a new song (Revelation 14:3)
  • They sung a new song, saying … (Revelation 5:9)

10. See the new Jerusalem

  • I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband (Revelation 21:2)

For these things to be ours, we must go to Jesus Christ and experience a spiritual rebirth and then rely upon the Holy Spirit to teach us and give us spiritual revelation.
