KMI-304 The Healing Power of Forgiveness

In March we are starting a new e-group on Zoom, called KMI-304: The Healing Power of Forgiveness.

Forgiveness: a divine tool

God has provided us with a powerful tool that can dramatically affect our lives: forgiveness. In recent years, research has proven the healing power of forgiveness.

Studies found that forgiveness can help lead people to emotional and physical healing, decrease in anxiety, depression, hopelessness, inner emptiness, and an increase in self-esteem.

Forgiveness has the power to bring about individual and interpersonal healing by removing emotional burdens, bringing peace, and in some cases restoring relationships. However, today many Christians do not really understand what forgiveness from the heart is.

In this 7-week series, here are some aspects of forgiveness that will help you:

  • The importance and power of forgiveness.
  • Role of hurts & painful memories in unforgiveness.
  • High cost of unforgiveness.
  • Downward spiral of unforgiveness.
  • Anger, resentment, bitterness.
  • Why forgiveness requires blood.
  • Why the blood of Jesus is so powerful.
  • Why forgiveness opens a pathway to healing.
  • What forgiveness is and is not.
  • Difference between forgiveness and reconciliation.
  • Why forgiveness must take place in the heart.
  • The blessings of forgiveness.
  • Three steps in forgiving from the heart.
  • Case histories

USA & Euro Groups

To accommodate the different time zones, we offer two groups: USA Group (KMI-304A); Euro Group (KMI-304B).

This interactive seven-week e-group consists of Reading Assignments, Things to Think About, and Supplemental Resources like Case Histories. Using Zoom, you will participate in 7 weekly group sessions, approximately 2 hours each. This gives you a place to hear from Gerald and Judith, ask questions, share your experiences, and pray together.

We will use my book, “I Forgive You: How Heart-Based Forgiveness Sets You Free,” as our text book. You can purchase a print book or an e-book.

More about forgiveness

Many Christians are ignorant of the high cost of unforgiveness. They do not understand how or why unforgiveness affects their lives. In the Gospels, Jesus Christ links forgiving others to answered prayers and well-being.

He also warns that if we do not forgive from our heart, we will be turned over to the torturers by his heavenly Father.

“You wicked slave; I forgave you all that debt because you entreated me. Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow slave, even as I had mercy on you?”

And his lord, moved with anger, handed him over to the torturers until he should repay all that was owed him (Matt 18:32-33).

Jesus turns to his followers and says, “My heavenly Father will also do the same to you, if each of you does not forgive his brother from your heart” (Matt 18:35).

In his parable, Jesus establishes the reality that unforgiveness carries a high price tag: torture! Modern research scientists have discovered the same truth. Resentment, anger, and bitterness affect our health, our mind and emotions, our social relationships, and our walk with God.

More than 2000 years ago, God provided us with the greatest tool of power ever given to humanity: the sacrificial blood of Christ was given so we can resolve the debts created by the wrongs committed against us. His blood alone has the power to set us free from deep-seated resentments, smoldering anger, and bitterness, enabling us to keep our hearts open and let the love of God flow out to others.

Through the case histories of people who discovered old resentments that had dropped down into their subconscious, you will see how God’s Spirit will help you  bring into the light any shame, guilt, resentments, or anger embedded in your old memories.

Do what Jesus said: forgive

In this e-group, you will understand the dangers of unforgiveness, how to use the blood of Jesus to forgive from your heart all others, including yourself, and you will experience a growing freedom. Your prayers will not be hindered. Your wounds can begin to heal. And the enemy will not have the right to torment you.  Then you will be able to help others also do what Jesus said: forgive others.
